OPEN LIVING WITH DISTINCT COLOR VIEWS - ACCENT WALLS

Modern open kitchen, living room and dining room with black Barcelona chairs

Nice modern living room - with an organized open floor plan. From one angle it is stark white with white epoxy painted concrete floors, white walls and white cabinetry in the kitchen. A few black and color accents in the furnishings. Flip around in the room and all of sudden - COLOR!

Bright sunny accent walls are carefully planned out to create a modern sleek colorful home.

Could you live with a few bright yellow accent walls?  If not, what color accent walls might you chose or do you already have in your house?

P.S. Speaking of yellow. Date night with TE had a little lemon yellow infused into it. Had a nice lemonade cocktail at the Hungry Cat in Santa Monica on Saturday night...right before going to a very lovely dinner with TE at the very chic and cozy Giorgio Baldi restaurant on West Channel Road. Nice evening really. Here is a scene from the Hungry Cat bar.

P.P.S.  Highlight of weekend was a fantastic dinner with my cute mother and my fantastic aunts LA, MA, JG and my guy TE at the Soho House on Friday night.  It took a bit to get all of the aunts coordinated to meet up, but we did it! LA and MA are visiting from out of town (Boston and France respectively) so it was their send off dinner before they head back. Had a lovely night filled with laughter, good food and good company.  All of my mom's sisters approved of TE!  That is good news!

P.P.P.S.  Hope you have a great week ahead!

NEUTRAL ZONE - COLOR WATCH

Modern neutral kitchen dining and living room grey black white tan concrete floor

Love this modern home in Finland in neutral colors...grays, tans, whites and blacks.  Works.  Doesn't feel like it needs any more color than this.  Great textures too...cement floors, black painted wood ceilings, gray cabinets and feature walls and black, white and tan furniture and accessories.  Very nice.  Soothing.  Minimalistic decor...no frills but feels very well appointed.

What do you think?  Do you like this design approach?  Would you want more color in your home or would this be enough?  Comment below please...would love to hear your take on this home.

COLOR WATCH - FUCHSIA AND HOT PINK

bed bedroom hot pink fuchsia fuschia painted brick walls interior design decor decorate

What better way to celebrate spring than a little bit of fuchsia and hot pink!  Why not take one room in your home and go all the way with wall color and accessories?  I'm not a pink person...best of friend AM is certainly into pink...over the years I'm finding that I'm gravitating towards pink more and more...in concept for now...wonder if I'll be daring enough to actually using this bold combo of fuchsia and hot pink in my home!

Do you have any fuchsia or pink strategically placed in your home or in your wardrobe?

May have to consider moving away from neutrals to a little pop of pink!

P.S.  Had a great brunch with AG yesterday at the Soho House.  Nice to catch up!

P.P.S.  My dear mother came by this weekend...to review the new floors at my house.  I got the stamp of approval!  Phew!

P.P.P.S.  First full weekend at home (last weekend spent a half weekend at home and the rest of the time at TE's).  This weekend was very relaxing and I was a bit under productive.  Ended up one night watching a show on Bravo called Married to Medicine.  There was a scene were grown ladies in ball gowns literally started pulling each other's hair out in a fist fight....it was kooky.  Lost brain cells watching the show...a guilty pleasure!

P.P.P.P.S.  Got the cutest phone call from New York the other day from best of friend AM's 3 year old daughter LE.  She called me to say hi and to ask me to send her chewable vitamins like the ones she had at my house when they all came to stay last year.  LE wanted the vitamins right away and when I explained to her I lived in California and I couldn't get the vitamins to her right away.  She then said she would just come visit me then!  Such a cutie!

COLOR WATCH: GREEN & GOLD HOLIDAY!

Photo by Coco of COCOCOZY (above)
Found this picture above in my archives. I took this photo last year...a Christmas tree at a local hotel. I loved the color combination of green and gold for the holidays.

Today this photo has got me thinking about how I might decorate the table at my sister's house for Christmas Eve dinner...love the green centerpiece, the gold wine glasses and the white china.

Holiday table setting with gold wine glasses and green plants in a gold rectangular vase separating the two sides of the table

Or how I might use green and gold when redecorating my house...

I love this mint green living room above with gold or brass lamps, mirror and coffee table.  Room for thought!

COLOR WATCH: BOLD BEDROOMS IN SHADES OF BLUE!

detail photo of a bedroom designed by Amanda Nisbet with blue and white pillows on a white bed with a navy headboard and navy Roman curtains with a single white stripe going down the side

A blue bedroom.  Seems sort of standard right?   Well was browsing through New York interior designer Amanda Nisbet's portfolio and changed my mind about the use of  the word "standard" when associated with blue bedrooms!

Here are three rooms where blue is used boldly!

Not sure if this bedroom is just straight light blue or if it has that hint of cornflower to it...wall to wall blue in this room works. (above)

Which of these three bedrooms do you like the best?  I'm leaning towards the cornflower blue room but I always love navy and white too.  You?

Happy Tuesday!

P.S.  I can't believe Christmas is next week. It is not too late to shop!   Head over to the COCOCOZY Shop to check out some of our gift items including our popular Lucite Trays, wonderfully scented COCOCOZY candles or our soothing Lavender Sachets...and if you can't decide just get someone a COCOCOZY Gift Card.

P.P.S.  Going on a little holiday soon...to Beaver Creek.  Need cute cold weather outfits.  Best of friend AM is going to Sun Valley for the holiday and she and I have been obsessing over all winter fashion from Moncler.  I love all Moncler jackets and coats.  GORGEOUS.  Never thought a ski jacket could look so chic.  Yesterday, AM just informed me that she got a Moncler jacket for Christmas from her hubby as an early gift over this past weekend!  Am happy for her...and dying for one for me!  Needless to say,  I won't be in Moncler for my ski weekend.  No time to shop for cute apres ski wear now due to the latest turn of events at my little tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills!  See below!

P.P.P.S. Yesterday, I had a repair guy come over to look at some water damage in a wall. The day ended with several workers in demolition mode and my bedroom floor ripped up, holes in the wall and much more due to tons of water damage! Today they take out part of my bedroom walls and then I have decide if I am completely moving out to check the whole house. This is forcing me straight into deciding on my wood floors throughout the house! Expensive and means I am without a home for the next few weeks. Thankfully I have sis DS's house which is so nice. And TE was sweet offer me a place to stay too.

P.P.P.P.S. Needless to say, today I'm trying to figure out next steps on my sudden construction project. As I went into a panic yesterday at first, I had to put things into perspective when I remembered all of the poor families in Connecticut who are really challenged right now. Makes my little dilemmas so insignificant really. My thoughts, tears and condolences are so with those Newtown families. Really.

COLOR WATCH: ANOTHER CORNFLOWER BLUE KITCHEN!

blue kitchen with herringbone wood floors

Another cornflower blue kitchen for you!

Years ago, I did a very short post on a cornflower blue kitchen that many of you seem to have enjoyed.  I enjoyed it too...the color of the kitchen cabinets spoke for themselves.

Well here is another cornflower blue kitchen.  I think I may love this one more than I loved the last.  Notice the gorgeous almost unfinished herringbone wood floors (sigh)...that pushes this kitchen into top tier range for me.

I like the soft almost purple soft blue.  It is very soothing.

So did you take a look at the old post on the other cornflower blue kitchen too...? Do you like one better than the other...?  This one or the old one?

Also, one last question and then I'll stop with the questions...would you be daring enough to paint your whole kitchen this shade of blue?  Why or why not? (oops 2 questions)

Happy Tuesday!

COLOR WATCH: MINT & GOLD!

A hallway of doors and mirrors with mint walls and gold decorative molding! (above)

I am obsessed with mint colored things this summer for some reason.  So drawn to it that earlier this year I designed a mint colored pillow for the COCOCOZY textiles collection - our COCOCOZY Arch Sea Foam pillow.  I am considering buying a pair of mint sandals for my summer travels too.  I'm a mintaholic right now...help?

Loving mint combined with gold.  That's the combo of the day for today's COLOR WATCH!

Happy Monday!

P.S.  Happy and sad to report that I spent yesterday working...happy to have gotten a lot done...sad that I was working on such a beautiful gorgeous Sunday here in Los Angeles.  I was over at COCOCOZY HQ (again not really a headquarters...just two small rooms in a slightly shabby office (or errr vintage) building in Beverly Hills).  I don't get to spend much time working out of COCOCOZY HQ as I am working during the day at my regular job...and I haven't really been able to go at night because I had them take out the not so pretty office lighting that was in the office when we got it...and just on last Thursday we  finally put up our own mercury glass pendant lights over the temporary conference table.  Am also still waiting on lots of furniture, lighting, window coverings and office accessories...all on order and expected to arrive at the end of August...the loot includes a cool table from France. Until then we are using temporary tables and shelves.  We have some new chairs I like, some pendant lights (still looking for a chandelier for the front room), and we had our sewing room make a huge drape in COCOCOZY Logo gray that hangs across the front room to conceal storage...the drapes are hanging from a track on the ceiling.  Anyhoooooooo...all of this to say the office still isn't done...but it was fun getting to work out of there yesterday.  C & E who are working out of the office seem to be okay with the slow decorating progress and say they like it and the location.  One step at a time...I guess. Want this to be done soon...but must have patience I guess!

COCOCOZY HQ in progress
Sneak peak progress report - COCOCOZY HQ only 1/4th done - Using a temporary table and missing lots of furniture, accessories and window coverings...but have gray hardwood floors, chairs, COCOCOZY Logo fabric and cute pendant lights.  Waiting on permanent conference table, a fretwork desk, huge display shelves, some vintage lamps, a chandelier for the front room, roman shades and so much more...oy vey...just stressed myself out! (above)

COCOCOZY HQ
Before COCOCOZY -  Before we moved in, the office  had weird office lighting, vertical blinds, and carpeting.

P.P.S.  Check out COCOCOZY Pinterest to see some of the furniture and lighting I am considering for the office...and let me know what you think.  Any suggestions?

P.P.P.S.  Once we get all of the permanent furniture and I've put the on the finishing touches, I will do a big photo shoot and reveal what the COCOCOZY HQ office looks like sometime in the fall.

P.P.P.P.S.  Happy Monday!
