BLUE VELVET SOFA - CHEAP TO CHIC

Great blue velvet sofas seem to be on trend these days.  I'm going to take out the word "seem" and just say these lovelies are definitely the "it" piece of furniture in home decor.  There.  I did it.  I made a definitive statement.  Wooo hoo!!! (TE and anyone I know can tell you...I deliberate about everything...so a definitive statement by me is a big deal!)

White, taupe, brown or gray - neutrals - sofas still are still of course the most popular. I am seeing this blue velvet trend quite a bit though and I like it.

Something so rich, royal and luxe about a beautiful blue sofa.  Definitely adds a bit of personality to a room too.  Can be either clean and modern or plush and traditional in style.  Perfect to add an easy high design touch to any living room, den or common space in a house or apartment.

P.P.S.  My mom leaves for France this Saturday!  She goes every year for two months.  Wish I could go to Paris with her!  I haven't been in two summers.  Must get back there soon.  I am taking her to the airport on Saturday and then stopping by a friend's new store!  More to come on that!

P.P.P.S. TE and I are also in the late throws of making our summer vacation plans...we'll see where we decide to go!

MONOGRAM STYLE - LARGE LIVING ROOM LETTERS!

Why not add a signature of sorts to a well designed space.  I'm wary of using too many words or letters in any design...but maybe a carefully placed letter here or there can personalize a good looking space even more.  Can a letter be art?  See the photo above...a cute black and white living room with a framed huge block letter "C".  I like.

What do you think?  Agree or disagree?

Anyhooooo...I like these metal letters below...I think the big huge zinc ones could be cool...maybe in a den...maybe a big C in my den.

CUTE NURSERY - BABY ROOM DESIGN!

I like this baby room decor.  A notable nursery in my book.  The peach, blues, gold and white color scheme works too.  I love this gold rose patterned wall paper.  Tres cute.

Simple interior design here.  A nice white crib...a light blue chair and ottoman, peach drapes and a Moroccan inspired pattern navy rug.

P.S.  This past weekend, TE and I got away for a staycation at the Montage Laguna.  It was only about an hour drive from Los Angeles, but for some reason it felt like we were worlds away.  The grounds were just beautiful, the weather was great, the room was nice and the service was impeccable (everyone who worked there was smiling and friendly ALL of the time).  We got there Saturday and hung out by the spa pool before our room was ready for check in and then we left Sunday with a very late check out.  It was fantastic!

WORKSTEAD DESIGN!

Moroccan type mosaic tiles in cream and black. (above)

I like the work of Brooklyn based design collective, Workstead.  Something very earthy, raw yet modern and eclectic about their aesthetic.  A blend of nostalgia and new.  Very cool.

Love the black and cream tile in the bath above.  I adore the decorative wall molding in the living room below.  I am picking out the wall molding for my bedroom today.  Was going to just do what I had before...large squares and rectangles...but loving the etched rectangle wall molding shown below.  Hmmm...considering.

P.S.  Multi million dollar answer - Yesterday, most of you answered correctly on the post about the two multi million dollar apartments.  The Tribeca loft is a mere $15.8 million...while the 5th Ave/62nd apartment is over $19 million!

P.P.S.  Stopped by my little tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills over the weekend with TE.  The wood floors are in!  Not stained yet...but they have been laid!  So excited....

P.P.P.S.   Spent 2.5 hours of my life watching the Bachelor last night.  Have lost brain cells.  Will spend day trying to figure out how to rejuvenate those cells lost.  Uhhhhhhhh....duhhhhhhh....uhhhhhh....
