HOLIDAY TABLE SETTING

Holiday table setting with straw runner and Christofle flatware

Brainstorming ideas today for Christmas Eve. These are pictures of the table I set last year at my sis DS's house for holiday dinner. Lots of gold, a straw runner, nice Christofle flatware, a low red berry centerpiece in an unpainted flower box, and glitter ornaments as place cards and favors. I cooked for about 8 people last year. This year it could be double. Oh what to do. Need to figure something cute out.

Tip: I wanted to add a little green into the table setting so I actually layered the straw runner on top of a wider green runner to add layers.

Tip 2: Went to the flower mart here in Los Angeles and bought some green leaves, red berries, oasis and an unpainted flower box and fashioned that into a low dinner table centerpiece. I had bought tons of other flowers but realized they were too high for people to enjoy good conversation.

Need to figure out colors and scheme for this year...also must blend with sis DS's midcentury modern decor and vibe. Thinking!

This is last year's look...throwing party at the same place this year...what will this year look like?

Any ideas. If you do have ideas or want to show me your table setting plan, please tag me @COCOCOZY on Instagram! Can't wait to see.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Al fresco fall dining table setting from Judy Pak Photography

Thanksgiving is almost here! Love the idea of dining al fresco for this autumn holiday. Love this harvest dinner party setting from Judy Pak Photography that I spied on Style Me Pretty. A great look for a city roof top Thanksgiving dinner party.

Spending the holiday with family. Very low key. I am looking forward to a day of rest and a day of being thankful!

TE sent me and my mother some gorgeous fall flowers for our Thanksgiving decor - a mix of flowers in vibrant fall colors. I love them. Am so thankful this holiday to have a sweet guy like TE in my life. I'll post pictures of the flowers on Instagram @cococozy. Follow me there so you can see. Thank you TE!

I have to make a pie tonight and then I'll head over to my mother's house tomorrow morning. Hope your holiday prep is going well!

Happy Wednesday! Happy Thanksgiving!

BREAKFAST NOOK LOOK - BUILT-IN BANQUETTE SEATING!

Built in bench seating under a window in a bright sunny breakfast nook. (above)

After seeing the darling eat in kitchen that I showed you in yesterday's post, I've had breakfast nooks on my mind. Now...most normal people have regular life things on their minds...family, friends, love, work, religion, politics, helping others...I've thought about those normal things certainly...but for an entire day or so I have truly been thinking a lot about breakfast nooks. I know...weird...I know...weird. Welcome to my world.

Anyhooo....in yesterday's post, the home owner chose a round table and adorable cafe chairs to make a stunning breakfast nook space off of her kitchen. After I saw that nook, I wanted to scoop it right up and take it home...there is a problem...I do live in a tiny tiny tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills so I have no space for a proper eat in kitchen dining area...but that nook got me thinking...could I do the same type of nook with built-in bench seating?

Well, if you are doing your kitchen or trying to figure out how to squeeze a table and chairs into a small cove or nook...here are some ideas on banquette seating!

INDOOR DINING ROOM WITH AN OUTDOOR FEEL!

indoor dining room outdoor feel thanks to vaulted ceilings, visible beams, large metal plant pots holding small trees, octagon wood table, white wood chairs

I love this dining room. I do. An indoor room with an outdoor feel. I think it's the architecture that makes this room feel like it is out in the open - the cobblestone like paver tiles covering the floor and the high ceilings make it seem like this dining area is set on a sidewalk on an old east coast town. The tall manicured ficus trees added on either side of the room make this space feel like it is set outside. I like.

There is also something very classic but simple about the decor...the octagon shaped wood table, the antique looking white chairs with carved bird wings and the large metal planters. No frills. Not fancy. Very elegant and understated I think.

I do wonder though...where the light comes from at night...no chandelier or lighting fixtures in view from these angles...hmmm...I wonder...

Happy Wednesday!

SMART DESIGN: THE MOLECULAR TABLE!

metal and glass console tabl
Casamidy - Molecular Console Table - $1950 (metal and glass console table)
Okay...my Casamidy crush continues...this time in the form of a collection of tables.

You might ask..."Coco...what in the world is a Casamidy crush?".  Appalled, I would reply in a rather snooty tone, "You don't know. How could you NOT know what a Casamidy Crush is...oh my?"  And then, you would probably think, "What is wrong with Coco?  Why is she talking with that funny affected lock jaw accent and clenching her teeth while she talks.  Bizarre."

Anyhoooo....simply put a Casamidy crush is a crush one might have on everything made by the Mexico based furniture design company, Casamidy, that is run by Ann Marie Midy and Jorge Almada..

Today, I bring you their latest - the Molecular Table series.  The tables have metal bases and glass tops.  The metal is an intricate design...almost maze like...based on a German scientific model of a molecule!  So smart...literally and figuratively speaking!

Jorge sent me this image of the German science molecule model that the tables' design was inspired by. (above)
The tables come in nickel plate, gold leaf, silver leaf and lacquer over metal finishes.  There is also a side table with a square glass top.

I love them.  I think they would work well in a traditional home juxtaposed against some classic furniture pieces as well as in an ultra modern space. A great new take on design.  Well done...again...Jorge and Ann-Marie!

What do you think about this smart table?  Could you use a statement piece like this in your home? If so, where...if not, let us know why?

Happy Thursday!
