INSPIRED ROOMS

Living room parquet wood floor slip covered sectional sofa Eames rocking chair built in shelves

I love this home's main living spaces...the living room and the library. Lots of light, just the right amount of texture via plants/decorative pillows/books, great flooring (parquet wood floors and a fantastic rug in the library), neat compact white furniture (a slipcovered sectional sofa in the living room and bench loveseat in the library)...and throw in a little high style in the form of a moulded Eames rocking chair in the living room.  Nice.

These two rooms were the inspiration for our new COCOCOZY Lucite Tray in vibrant green and white pictured below.  Fresh rooms...I wanted the trays to reflect that!

What do you think of these rooms?

Happy Wednesday!

P.S.  Notice that neither room feature drapery on the windows. Do you think drapes or curtains are a necessary element in a room?  I go back and forth on this!

COCOCOZY UPDATE FROM NEW YORK!

lucite tray and topiary boxwood at NYIGF 2013 COCOCOZY booth
Prize winning COCOCOZY Lucite Tray! (above)

Starting with a design non sequitur...an admission that has nothing to do with decor and design...so beware...

Okay...I am showing the full COCOCOZY Home Collection in New York..it is day 4 of the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) and I just had an apple fritter for breakfast. I DO NOT normally eat apple fritters. I don't. Really I don't. I don't. Well...uh...hmmm...okay...well I've had an apple fritter before...and maybe I had one back in December (TE ate half of it)...but I can tell you prior to that I had not had one since January 2012 (I think). Note to self...ban all apple fritters for 2013. Hope my mother who is an erudite college French professor is not reading this post...she would think, "Why is my daughter eating something called an apple fritter and moreover why is she choosing to mention this on a blog. Tres bizarre."

Anyhoooo...today is the last day of the New York gift fair. We've had a terrific time here at the COCOCOZY Booth. Yesterday...CM who runs all things COCOCOZY was interviewed by a camera crew...he did a great job...and I've been talking so much that I've lost my voice. MK, a lovely interior designer and artist, is helping us...she is the calm and collected. CM and I definitely both have big spurts of energy that involve talking up a storm and then having to sit down because we've expended a flurry of energy.

Yesterday, midday, a lady came by with an award certificate - our COCOCOZY Lucite Tray was picked! CM and I started jumping up and down and screaming for joy - making a scene really. We were one of 3 finalists in the Dining category for some trade show award. Meanwhile, our booth neighbors Pom Pom at Home also won...but they were reserved and demure about their win. Another note to self: learn to be reserved and demure.

We also mixed up things at the booth yesterday and threw our new COCOCOZY Rug Collection on the floor of the booth...probably makes sense to show rugs on the floor...see picture below...do you like the booth with the rugs on the floor or without.  Will take your comments into consideration for the next show's display.

Anyhooo...need to go run around and take some photos of other things so I can do a little fair round up for you tomorrow!  Hope you all are having a good week!

Happy Wednesday! (please excuse typos as I am in an apple fritter daze)

No rhyme, no reason, no theme, no scheme, no purpose...just some random stuff I saw this week that I'm liking right now. A little this or that or inspiration for the mansion, ranch, home, house, apartment, loft, condo, cottage or shack and anything in between.

Close ups on my week.

P.S. Went to a very nice holiday party at chic textiles showroom Harbinger last night.  Got a chance to catch up with owners Joe Lucas and Parrish Chilcoat and showroom manager Tami. Also was nice to talk with Brian Ferrick, super talented textiles designer and half of Ferrick Mason.  Before running out to a dinner, saw stylish interior designer Ron Woodson  of Woodson & Rummerfeld too.  Party was a book signing for uber designer and t.v. personality Thom Filicia. Then headed to a dinner at Comme Ca.  Fun night.

DESIGN IDEA: TWO TONED CURTAIN DIVIDERS!

living room with mint green floor length curtains, copper tom dixon pendant, green and white striped rugs, wood floor, white sofa and brightly colored pillows

I like ceiling and wall mounted curtains used as room and space dividers in this small apartment. The mint green curtains in the living room and the coral orange in the bedroom work.  Drapery in two different complimentary colors to create a horizontal fade (or ombre look) effect.  I like.

Using a wall mounted drape is great for concealing an area or for defining separate spaces in a small apartment, flat or home.  Good small space saving idea I think.

Also, I think these little rooms look so bright and cheerful and colorful. Love the mix of colors!  Also love the copper pendant light and striped rugs in the living room.

What do you think of this design idea?  Like or dislike?

Happy Thursday!

P.S.  Below are a few more pictures of COCOCOZY Headquarters (HQ) in Beverly Hills where we used a ceiling mounted drape on a track to conceal our storage racks. Our offices are indeed quite small so this trick worked for us.  We used the COCOCOZY Logo Linen fabric in Gray.  Design wise the office is still a work in progress.  Need to now decorate.  Have had no time though!

P.P.S.  Yesterday, a friend of mine who is the head of talent for a cable network asked us to put together a last minute holiday gift proposal for him - gifts he possibly wants to give to some people in his organization within the next week.  So, in less than an hour, CM and JW did a quick photo shoot at COCOCOZY HQ to showcase some of our gift items.  JW shot the photos and CM styled and put together a whole proposal for my network executive friend. Below is the fruits of the little shoot and the proposed gift assortment they came up with featuring our COCOCOZY Logo Lucite Trays and some COCOCOZY Candles.  Thank you CM and JW.  Nice work.  We don't know if my cable network executive friend will end up going with our gifts but I think the COCOCOZY team did a great job of putting our best foot forward!

P.P.P.S.  So thrilled (and relieved)...We got our COCOCOZY Logo Lucite trays back in stock as of yesterday!   We're shipping all today and tomorrow.  A nice whirlwind of buzz for these trays meant that we sold out almost immediately.   Now we are back in business just in time to ship for the holiday.  Still not too late to order yours!

P.P.P.P.S.  12/12/12 was a very interesting day for us at COCOCOZY.  Hopefully I'll be able to talk about  it soon.

P.P.P.P.P.S. The other night was out to dinner with CM and he made a good point about putting things in perspective and appreciating your life now.  He said one of his favorite songs is Carly Simon's Anticipation...CM said every time he hears the lyrics in that song "These are the good old days, these are the good old days....", he remembers to appreciate the moments in his life now.  While sitting at a fantastic dinner with me and JW on Tuesday night, CM gleamed and smiled and said..."You guys these are the good old days.  We're in them right now.  These are them. Let's take a moment and really really enjoy these times now because later we'll be calling these days the "good old" ones."  He's right.

LOFT LIVING: INDUSTRIAL RUSTIC CHIC!

Living room in Daniel Lowe's Hollywood loft with tufted leather couch and trellis fretwork gray wallpaper on on the fireplace

I like this Hollywood loft owned by art director Daniel Lowe. Masculine, industrial, rustic chic I think. So cute for a guy's place...or a girl's. Open concept, living room, dining room and kitchen combo. Good light and some exposed brick. Who could ask for more?

Love the geometric trellis fretwork gray wallpaper on the fireplace in the living room, adore the nautical pendant lights over the kitchen island, and there is something very stylish about a tufted leather couch. Lots of detail coming together to make a nice space.

Anything here in the interior design or decor details that you like? Do you think this space is more masculine or neutral?

Happy Monday!

P.S. Had a fun weekend with TE. We went to a Saturday night movie, dinner at Silverlake Mexican restaurant Malo, walked on Runyon Canyon on Sunday and then somehow ended up at sports place watching the San Francisco 49ers game. Best part of it all was when TE came over for the movie, he had gifts in hand. I was immediately convinced and assumed they were all presents/gifts for me...I was wrong. He did bring "hostess treats" of sorts to my tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills - a bottle of Veuve Clicquot for me and something for my cute mischievous dog Mr. Boo, some organic dog treats. A very cute holiday offering I think. Mr. Boo, the dog, seems to like TE more than he likes me these days.  Hmm...I will have to bring some organic treats home tonight and see if that helps sway the pooch my way!

P.P.S.  Just found out that thankfully we have a new shipment of COCOCOZY Logo Lucite Trays coming in! Wooohooo. These COCOCOZY trays will be back in stock as of Monday 12/17!  Thank goodness.  The trays have been a hit so far...we sold out of our first limited edition run in just a few days and now we are onto a second run.  So it is not too late to pre-order these trays as a gift item or for your holiday decor.  We'll ship out on Monday 12/19 too...so trays should make it to you in time for the Christmas holiday!  Last minute...but we'll do our best to rush these out to you in time if you pre-order this week.  We're sending out the first round of trays that everyone already ordered at the end of this week.  Will share some photos on shipping day.

P.P.P.S.   Will try to pull together a last minute gift guide this week too...with some of my top holiday gifting ideas from all around the internet!  Hopefully it will help last minute holiday shoppers!

P.P.P.P.S.  Hope your holiday prep and shopping are going well...I'm already behind!
