Cute living room. This one is in an old train depot converted into an apartment in Hamburg, Germany. Nice sleek open floor plan where you can see through from the living room to the dining room right into the kitchen.

A chrome arched Arco floor lamp looms over a modern living space.  Camel colored most likely vintage leather and chrome chairs and a pink Ligne Roset sofa.  Love the pale aqua painted backsplash in the kitchen in the distance.

Note to self: must find train station to convert into a cute modern living space.  Design on track! :-)

APARTMENT DECORATING - 1000 SQUARE FEET IN SWEDEN!

A white bedroom with a mix of old and new. (above)

This cute one bedroom apartment is located in Linnéstaden, Sweden. It was recently on the market but was snapped up understandably. Bright, cheerful and light is how I would describe the interior design. White walls, white floors, lots of natural sun light. The decor fits the setting. Not too important, very easy, both modern and classic at the same time. I like!

Love the printed fabric wall hanging that acts as a headboard of sorts over the bed. (above)

Smart use of space with cute storage boxes on top of a white armoire wardrobe. (above)

Lots of pillows on a gray sofa and framed posters make for easy living room decor - and don't forget an Eames chair classic! (above)

White wood floors throughout the apartment and in the dining room help add to the cheerful feel. (above)

A stainless steel backsplash in the small modern kitchen.(above)

P.S. Was sitting at the office the other day at my real job - minding my own business - and these lovelies arrived. From the very nice TE. He is very thoughtful and sweet. Once they came, every girl I work with ran into my office...they were all cooing, oooohing and aaahhing. We then staged a mini photo shoot with the flowers where all of the girls were texting and putting them on Instagram. Got so caught up in "flowerpalooza", I forgot to text TE a thank you right away! Flowers...they do the trick every time.

WINE COUNTRY KITCHEN CRUSH!

Here are the 5 things I'm loving about this wine country rustic industrial kitchen:

1. Reclaimed wood paneled kitchen island
2. Sage green subway tile backsplash and cabinets
3. Black pendant lights hanging over the island
4. Metal floating shelves
5. Furniture (Eames chairs in breakfast nook and leather barstools)

This kitchen was expertly crafted by Los Angeles based interior designers Krista Schrock and David John Dick from Disc Design.

Nice!

P.P.P.S. Mr. Boo update: Went to visit Mr. Boo at the hospital yesterday. He seems to be doing better after back surgery. He spent the entire time trying to jump out of the cage while I was there. A busy body as usual...even while recuperating!! :-)

P.P.P.P.S. Next week is a busy week for COCOCOZY. We are working on shipping 500 pillows and 275 COCOCOZY throws for two very special orders that we've been working on. I'll tell you about both of those later. Very exciting and very busy. CM who runs all things operations and JW who assists are up to their ears in planning schedules. Lots of COCOCOZY textiles going out into the world!  Wish us luck.  We'll pack everything up on Friday and Saturday hopefully!!!

Which of these two kitchen looks do you like better.

The white kitchen with the blue mosaic chevron pattern backsplash?  Or the kitchen with the dark wood cabinets and the Moorish looking mosaic tile backsplash?

I like both kitchens definitely! But if I had to pick a look for my house...it is tough but I would pick the 2nd kitchen if you can believe! Normally I always lean towards the light and bright so picking #2 is truly a departure!

DESIGN IDEA: A BRIGHT IDEA IN KITCHEN LIGHTING!

I like this lighting look in this modern kitchen. Dark wood cabinets and counters, counter to ceiling white subway tile backsplash, and simple bulb suspension pendant lights dangling from a metal bar that is mounted onto the ceiling.

To me, these simple Edison like bulbs in different shapes and sizes work both in form and function. They look good and they provide sufficient lighting over the kitchen sink work space...makes cooking and cleaning up a little more stylish I think.

A do it yourself (DIY) horizontal bulb light fixture of sorts.

Good idea...and good looking. Simple, clean, modern and a bit of a design surprise.

HOOD TASTE IN THE KITCHEN - WALL MOUNT STAINLESS RANGE HOODS!

This kitchen above with its scalloped stainless steel range hood caught my eye. I had never seen metal hood with a scalloped edge. So interesting really.

Anyhoooo...got me thinking about style and design for wall mounted stainless steel hoods that go above ranges, ovens, stove tops for venting purposes..

To be honest (since I clearly have no filter on this blog), I started to think of titles for the post before I really started thinking about hoods. I have a tendency sometimes (more often than not) to use not so creative alliteration or puns or plays on words in my post titles. I write out something that I think is funny and get a good little chuckle at it and then publish the stories. For this post I was having a bit of a mental road block with the title though. Normally I just type out the first thing that comes to mind and I publish with no fear...not looking back...knowing that I have a post title issue and that other bloggers would turn their nose up and say, "Her titles are really long and really not that funny". Oh well...yooohoooo...LOL...what's a girl to do?

Still on the topic of post titles (if you can believe it)...

So today, I started my somewhat comedic journey to this post title with this first title...here it comes...wait...ready...okay...drum roll...and..."Hoodie Style"...tah dah...I know it fell kind of flat for me too when I wrote it out. So I scratched that one clearly. Then I thought about using "Hood-tastic" for this blog post title but that didn't really make sense either. And then the litany of not so good post titles continued: "Hi Hood Looking"; "Hood for Thought"; "Your Guess is as Hood as Mine"; "So Far So Hood"; "Hoody Two-Shoes"; "Honest to Hoodness"; "To Hood to be True"; "It Hood be Worse"; "I Hood if I Could" and so on and so on. I ended up the "Hood Taste"...it is no better or no worse than my other bad titles...but it is the one I'm running with today. Hope you can find some bit of humor in the title or maybe there is someone out there who actually thinks my titles are okay? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? I digress (as usual)...apologies!

Anyhoooo...post title aside...back to interior design...

I do like a nice stainless steel hood. I like the way the metal over a cook top can add a bit of gleam and shimmer to kitchen design.

Here are a few very different kitchens where stainless hoods "steal" the show! LOL!

A custom scalloped stainless steel hood wall mounted onto white subway tiles over a vintage looking white range in a modern country style kitchen. (above)

MINT & MARBLE - HOW TO MAKE A SMALL MODERN KITCHEN WORK!

I like this small kitchen with its flat front ever so slightly mint colored cabinets and the marble slab backsplash and counters. This small space works.

A one wall kitchen that is oh so small but feels light and airy and roomy. The key is the light colored cabinets, the white washed wood floors and the clean lines used throughout. There is no busy mosaic tile backsplash here. There is also an absence of drawerrs and doors with pulls and knobs and recessed panels. Clean simple.

I like the touch flavor with the gold or brass colored faucet on the sink. Very nice contrast.

To add a bit of personality, the eat in kitchen boasts a long table with mish mosh mix of chairs including some bentwood cafe style chairs and a host chair painted in a dark green to compliment the cabinets.  The round pendant light in chrome mirror finish adds light with its reflective surface too.

I like. Take a look.

DESIGN IDEA: BACK IT UP IN THE KITCHEN!

I like what Australian design firm Doherty & Lynch did with the backsplashes in these two kitchens.

In the first, they painted a kitchen wall with a blue ombre style stripe on the wall and then installed floating shelves. In the second kitchen below, black and white graphic wallpaper is applied to the wall and then covered with either clear plexi or glass.

Both have big visual impact and are very unique.

Good DESIGN IDEA in my view. Take a look.

THIS OR THAT: TWO SMALL KITCHENS MAKE BIG DESIGN STATEMENTS!

Two well designed small kitchens from one interior designer. Here I bring you two kitchens from talented Australian designer Greg Natale. Both kitchens are making bold design statements in relatively small footprints.

Would like to know which of these kitchens you prefer in today's THIS OR THAT!

KITCHEN 1 (below) - A moody open kitchen with dark cabinets with diamond shaped molding details, light rustic looking floors, a very bold trellis pattern black and white backsplash and glossy black counters.

KITCHEN 2 (below) - A tiny galley kitchen with avocado green cabinets. This kitchen features a marble slab backsplash and marble checkered tile floors.

So which of these do you prefer - Kitchen 1 or Kitchen 2?  If you were going be daring in your own kitchen design and you had to pick one of these two, which of these kitchens would you chose? Is there one you like more? Do tell...would love to hear what you have to say on this one.  I am on the fence.  I would most likely go with a white kitchen but can certainly appreciate the cool eclectic design in these.  Weigh in please!
