$74 MILLION DOLLAR PALM BEACH ESTATE - LIST PRICE V. SALE PRICE

So this little ol' home in Palm Beach has been sold.  So sorry to inform you it is off the market...you cannot buy it right now.  The 27,000+ square foot waterfront mansion was listed for $74 million dollars.  It features 9 bedrooms, 17 baths, 5 car garage parking, a pool, a dock, a state of the art kitchen designed by a chef and so much more.  Oh did I mention this estate was newly built.  Construction was completed back in 2011.

Here's the scoop...it looks like the developer had to file bankruptcy after building this home...and he had to put it on the market right away.  He listed it for $74 million back in 2011...with no takers for about 2 years.  Last summer, the home finally sold.

Take a tour...then decide...what might you offer on this Palm Beach home if you had multi millions?  Then let me know in the comments.  I'll tell you how much it is was sold for tomorrow.

Okay...so this home was listed for $74 million...what do you think it actually sold for?  Oh, and would you ever want a house like this?  Do tell!

Happy Thursday!

P.S.  Was on the phone the other day with best of friend AM who lives in New York.  Between the two of us, I am the talker most definitely.  She does speak but the other day she broke a record of the least amount of words in one conversation.  Here is a replay of our phone call:
Me: "Hi AM. How are you?"
AM: Silence
Me: "Hello?"
AM: Silence
Me: "Hello? Are you there?"
AM: "Hi"
Me: "How are you?"
AM: Silence
Me: "How are you?"
AM: "Fine"
Me: "Ok...clearly, I am asking the wrong questions.  It is allowing you only one word answers.  Okay, please describe your weekend with your kids and husband"
AM: "Bari class, park, dinner"

P.P.S.  Had a great dinner the other night at Mr. C's in Los Angeles.  Was with dear friends BN and SN, new friends M and CH and my guy TE.   Fun catching up with friends.

P.P.P.S.  Remember to tell me what you think of this house!

INSIDE HISTORIC NEW ORLEANS HOMES - HAPPY MARDI GRAS

The front porch of an historic Garden District home in New Orleans (above)
Happy Mardi Gras! I miss New Orleans this time of year.  Mardi Gras season is so much fun for me when I am there because of my friends.   A few years back, I was a regular in New Orleans at this time of year visiting best of friend FF who lives in a stunning mansion on Saint Charles Avenue with her hubby CCF and my godson CGF.

Year after year I went to celebrate with FF and her family, dear friend FM and her family and my other dearest of dear friend JH and her hubby DH would also come into town. FF's husband CCF has a way of saying the "party" in a relaxed elegant way...it just draws you into the party spirit of New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

It is always eventful when I go to Mardi Gras.  One year I got hit in the head with a bag of beads and it knocked me out for a few minutes...but I was still smiling and enjoying myself with a swollen nose and a big lump on my head minutes later. Laissez le bon temps rouler! The year before, I attended a black-tie Mardi Gras party with FF, CCF, CGF and all of their family - I donned the required long leather white gloves with my ball gown and watched the Mardi Gras pomp and ceremony unfold in front of me.  The highlight of all my Mardi Gras trips was riding the parade route atop a float...winding through the streets of one of the most amazing cities in the country...taking in the sights and the people.  FF is a member of a Mardi Gras krewe and has invited me two times to throw beads with her on a float (dressed as lobster once and then as king another time).  It has been an honor to experience New Orleans as an insider.

This year I am here, longing to be there...I just saw a picture of FF on Facebook...I think the float theme this year was Elvis!

Anyhoooooo...now to these homes.  Here is a peak inside three wonderful New Orleans homes that found owners willing to take the time to renovate them.

1. CAPTAIN'S HOUSE
This 6700 square foot home built in 1859...once belonged to a steamboat captain.  It cost $972,000 to purchase and another $500,000 to update it and renovate it. (above and below)

2) GENTILE GARDEN DISTRICT MANSION

It took 10 years to renovate this 10,000 square foot Garden District mansion (above)

Italiante furnshings compliment the home's architecture.

3) REMODELED FAMILY HOME
A 5000 square foot 19th century white clapboard home was renovated to become more

Which of these New Orleans gems is your favorite?  I think I'm loving what was done to the Captain's home the best.

Happy Tuesday!  Happy Mardi Gras!

$36 MILLION DOLLAR BEVERLY HILLS MODERN - SEE THIS HOUSE

Exterior of a Beverly Hills mansion on its own island

A mansion perched on its own island above Beverly Hills and Los Angeles. Quite awesome. Sleek...modern...super amazing views... the ultimate glass house.

An uber home for sale really...it is listed by Mauricio Umansky (Real Housewives t.v. show husband) of The Agency.

EE, TE's son, found this one online and showed it to me on Saturday. I was impressed with EE's cool modern aesthetic in homes at such a young age.  Meanwhile, I think TE and EE were most impressed with the garage of the home - a guy's car parking dream I suppose because even the garage has floor to ceiling windows and city views.  Check out the garage on COCOCOZY Pinterest (and remember to follow me there for extras)

6 bedrooms, 10 baths in a 11,200 square feet of home...all for $36 million.  Built by developer Richard Papalian, designer Michael Palumbo and architect Marc Whipple, the finest materials were used to construct this house.

Amazing views of all of Los Angeles...water, city and more.  The home sits on its own island...surrounded by a modern day moat of sorts.   A “white chocolate, dark chocolate” theme called for the use of Hera Limestone from the Sinai Peninsula, elegant Super Thassos floor tiles, beautiful Wenge wood, the finest German-made Schucco windows, custom-engineered Renlita doors.  The state-of-the-art kitchen features Italian lacquered cabinetry and integrated Miele appliances.  There is a guest house, putting green and pool too!  Sitting on almost an acre...this home is a little world unto itself.

I think I could make do with this mansion!  You?

$23 MILLION DOLLAR MALIBU OCEAN VIEW - SEE THIS HOUSE

Living room in a Malibu villa with an ocean view

Ocean views...never really thought of them much...but this weekend I drove with TE and his son EE down to Palos Verdes and we saw some spectacular Pacific Ocean views.  Breathtaking really.

So what is an ocean view worth...?

For 6 bedrooms, 8.5 baths in 7,624 square feet of ocean front home right in Malibu...does $23,750,000 sound about right?  This self proclaimed "European style villa" was built in 1998.  It is located on Point Dume and features panoramic ocean views on 1.29 acres of land.  The home is listed by Sotheby's.

A gourmet kitchen, imported French limestone in some of the rooms, hardwood floors in others, a gourmet kitchen, a master suite has its own private balcony and a pool.

This is probably what it looks like from this water front mansion today as it is classically wonderful weather in Southern California on this second day of the new year.

So would you take it or leave it? Take a tour...

Living room in a Malibu villa with taupe furniture, branch mirror and ocean views

Bedroom in a Malibu villa with mirrored night stand and lamp and tall white headboard

Let's see...if I had $23.75 million to spare...or if someone wanted to gift it to me...I would take it!

Happy Thursday!  Happy New Year!

$46 MILLION GARDEN TOWNHOUSE IN NYC - SEE THIS HOUSE

Entry with glossy black gates and front door
Multi million dollar entry with glossy black gates and front door. (above)

$46 million dollars for 8 bedrooms, 13 baths in 11,100 square feet right in the center of New York City! This city townhouse was built by banking heir Paul Mellon and wife Bunny Mellon in 1965. 125 E. 70th...a Neoclassic French style home comes complete with a wonderful outdoor space for gardens (Bunny was friends with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and at one point designed the White House Rose Garden)

The home is listed by Sotheby's.

I love the enfilade on the ground floor (grouping of rooms connected together)...the idea of this kind of flow was typical in royal homes in Europe.  Also love the geometric painted floors in the halls and living room - adds visual interest.  Finally, the outdoor space...the gardens...perfection!

I would take this house in a minute if someone offered it to me.  I would modern up the decor a little and then live happily ever after!
