HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Spending the holiday with family. Very low key. I am looking forward to a day of rest and a day of being thankful!

TE sent me and my mother some gorgeous fall flowers for our Thanksgiving decor - a mix of flowers in vibrant fall colors. I love them. Am so thankful this holiday to have a sweet guy like TE in my life. I'll post pictures of the flowers on Instagram @cococozy. Follow me there so you can see. Thank you TE!

I have to make a pie tonight and then I'll head over to my mother's house tomorrow morning. Hope your holiday prep is going well!

It is Thanksgiving morning and I am running behind.  I was supposed to be in my car going to my mother's house for a big family dinner...but I am still baking my pies!  I am making 1 lumpy rustic apple pie and 1 sweet potato pie (a tradition from Grandmother). I'm running a few hours behind. At least I'll be there I hope before all of the extended family arrives. We're having our Thanksgiving with about 9-10 family members.

As I just finished one pie, I am taking a moment to reflect on how thankful I am for everyone in my life.

I am so thankful for my sweet family (mom, sis DS, aunts, uncles and cousins). Am also thankful for my dear dear friends (AM, FF, JH, NS, AT, JD, AG, ALG, A.Ro., JE, JLF, RRM, BN, SN to mention just a few of the many many good friends I am so lucky to have) and more (TE).  Then there is the gratitude I feel towards those who have become my extended COCOCOZY family (CM, KS, JF, HJ, HH, PR, JW, LH and more) - the people who have been so amazing in helping me with COCOCOZY this year at any given point.

And then of course there is you...you readers who check in on a regular basis...I am so so very thankful for you my dear COCOCOZY readers...you inspire me, you motivate me, and I am so thankful that you take the time to learn about design and decor with me on a day to day basis.

Anyhooo...here is how my lumpy rustic apple pie unfolded this morning!  Smells so delicious.  I love the warm sweet smells that permeate the house when I bake pies.  So wonderful.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVE!

I love Thanksgiving...such a wonderful time with family...enjoying good food...taking the time to reconnect.

I am making two pies (a sweet potato and an apple) for our family gathering at my mom's house. My hat goes off to those of you who are cooking an entire meal. My pies will take some time but nothing like a turkey and all of the sides!

Oh, the color of these leaves reminds me of fall. I took the photo a several months ago...actually back in the Spring...it is of the Japanese Maple in front of my house. Now there are barely any leaves on my little tree. I'm going to deck it with sparkle white lights for the holidays!

Anyhooo...what are you doing to prep for Thanksgiving tomorrow? Any fun plans tonight? How do you spend the night before a big holiday?

UGLY OR PRETTY?: MY THANKSGIVING FALL FLORAL CENTERPIECE!

So a few weeks ago, I went down to the flower mart here in Los Angeles early on Saturday morning.  I don't know why I went all the way there...I was just looking to buy a white orchid for my living room.

But as I was driving to my florist, I was talking to my sis DS on the phone and she said "So you are going to the flower mart downtown?".  I said, "No".  She said, "You should go." I said, "I'm not going there, I don't even know where it is."  She said, "8th and Wall Street, I've got to go...bye."  There I was in gym clothes (not going to the gym I might add) in my car with the knowledge of where the flower mart was located and a little spare time on my hands...so I went.

Well there are good things about the flower mart and bad things....the good things are all of the gorgeous flowers...the bad thing is all of the gorgeous flowers.  I went looking for a white orchid and came home with flowers for a fall flower arrangement all of a sudden.

Anyhooo...needless to say...I pulled an assortment of flowers and greenery and brought it home...plopped it on my deck dining table and started cutting and snipping.  I got Dahlias, Cockscomb, Baby Hydrangea, Seeded Eucalyptus, Coffee Beans, Tea Leaves...I had only ever bought hydrangea, tea leaves and coffee beans for arrangements in the past...so this was all new to me.

I haven't posted the flower arrangement for weeks only because I kind of wasn't sure whether I thought it was pretty.  That day, while I was arranging, I had texted the images to a friend and he texted something back like "Wow. Wild flowers!" I think...he couldn't figure out a word to describe them I think!

So I didn't post these pictures a few weeks back...because I am kind of thinking my impromptu fall flower arrangement might be ugly?  Maybe?

Anyhooo...maybe this post will inspire you to arrange something pretty for your Thanksgiving table centerpiece.  In the meantime, I need your thoughts - is this do-it-yourself floral fall centerpiece UGLY OR PRETTY?
