I thank you so much for following along throughout the year and being a part of COCOCOZY.  Your support has been such a gift to me!

Tonight, on Christmas Eve, I will be with family at my sis DS's house.  Almost 20 of us are gathering for a dinner and a nice celebration.  I am running around all day because I am actually cooking dinner!  Oh my!

My Christmas Eve dinner menu:
-Orange rosemary herb roasted chicken
-Haitian rice (a tradition from my mother)
-Green beans with shallots and garlic
-Cranberries
-Colorful green salad with avocado, corn, red and yellow peppers with a shallot lemon vinaigrette
-Apple pie from Sweet Lady Janes (normally I make pies but so many people this time...I am getting the help from one of my favorite bakeries...their deep dish apple pie is like something out of a fairytale...heaping with apples with a wonderful flaky tall bumpy top crust)

I will serve a champagne cranberry cocktail to start the evening off along with a light selection of cheeses.

We'll see how this all actually goes.  Everyone arrives at 7p.  I must get going!

FAMILY FRIENDLY HOME IN TORONTO WITH PERSONAL STYLE

A comfortable accessible family home in Toronto.  This home was featured on Vogue's website...apparently the home where Vogue.com contributor and blogger Sophie Young grew up. A very warm home a mix of old and new.  The home sits in a residential neighborhood in the center of Toronto.  It was an abandoned property before Sophie's parents took it over and made it their own.

A safe, stylish, fresh, personal, unpretentious space to raise a family. The decorating style combines old and new quite seamlessly along with a little whimsy in the form of color and art.  Well done.  Take a look.

KITCHEN WEEK: COLORFUL KITCHENS!

KITCHEN WEEK day 3 here on COCOCOZY!  Today I bring you a few very bright colorful kitchens.   I am afraid of too much color as you probably can tell by the images on the blog...but of course, just the right dose of color can really make a huge design statement.

I actually love all of these colorful kitchens pictured here...but which would I actually dare to live with?  Hmmm...thinking....

Modern very small kitchen with flat front cornflower blue cabinets and a marble slab backsplash. (above and below)

Green and blue are the order of the day in this rustic kitchen with a gorgeous zellig tile backsplash and a farmhouse sink. (above)

Do you have a color filled kitchen in your home?  If not, would you consider any of these bright options if you could?  Please do weigh in...

I think I would go for the light blue modern kitchen with the marble slab backsplash if I had to chose one.

BEDROOM DESIGN FIND: RED CHINESE CHIPPENDALE HEADBOARD!

Smith & Watson - Queen Chinese Chippendale Fretwork Headboard - $10030 (Red fretted headboard. Mahogany.  Glossy lacquer finish) (above)

I like this headboard. A mahogany lacquered Chinoiserie headboard. Would certainly make a bright statement in a bedroom. If I were designing around this headboard, I would keep the rest of the decor in the bedroom simple. Pale gray walls, crisp all white bedding, a few lucite nightstands, simple white milk glass table lamps with shades with just a tiny thin barely perceptible red trim around the bottom.

Could be cute.

Oh, this is definitely not a piece do to be taken lightly. You would definitely have to commit...it is over $10,000! So you have to really love it and know you are going to love it for years...maybe even decades!

Is this statement headboard something you could live with for years and years and love? What do you think?

TILE FILE: A HOUSE FULL OF TILES!

Love these tiles on the floor of this home is in Greece.  Cement tiles I think.  In black, red and gray.  They look Moroccan to me.  So lovely.  Who said tile makes a room cold?  I didn't.  I like this!

I love the way the same tiles are used in both indoor and outdoor spaces.  Nice.  Very nice.

P.P.S.  I was at Wholefoods last night and an older man walked up to me.  He was holding a jug of apple juice.  He said to me..."What is in this apple juice...is it just apples...I cannot tell".  I read the front and it said "Organic apple juice".  On the back, listing the ingredients it only said: "Ingredients: Apple Juice".  I said, "I guess this apple juice is made out of apple juice?"  The older man said, "This drives me crazy every time.  How can a jug of apple juice say the ingredients are "apple juice""...I shrugged my shoulders.  Baffling.  He was right.  It is like saying the ingredient in a frozen pizza is frozen pizza OR the ingredient in butter is butter.  While the man seemed a little loopy, he was spot on in his observation.  As I left the store, I could hear him asking someone else "What is in this apple juice...is it just apples...I cannot tell.".  LOL!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVE!

I love Thanksgiving...such a wonderful time with family...enjoying good food...taking the time to reconnect.

I am making two pies (a sweet potato and an apple) for our family gathering at my mom's house. My hat goes off to those of you who are cooking an entire meal. My pies will take some time but nothing like a turkey and all of the sides!

Oh, the color of these leaves reminds me of fall. I took the photo a several months ago...actually back in the Spring...it is of the Japanese Maple in front of my house. Now there are barely any leaves on my little tree. I'm going to deck it with sparkle white lights for the holidays!

Anyhooo...what are you doing to prep for Thanksgiving tomorrow? Any fun plans tonight? How do you spend the night before a big holiday?
